Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat) has taken delivery of the latest gas carrier to join its fleet from HD Hyundai Samho shipyard.
The new vessel, Energy North, which entered service in the first week of October, can transport either LPG or ammonia and is the first of a series of six ships, including two LNG carriers and four LPG/ammonia carriers, being built at the South Korean yard for the Qatari operator.
The 88,000m3 capacity Energy North is equipped with dual-fuel, ammonia-ready propulsion technology and emissions reduction systems. As a result, the vessel is designed to deliver enhanced fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, as well as high levels of environmental performance, Nakilat states.
