The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived in Singapore on Friday with its strike group for a port visit, before heading to the Middle East.

The visit was first reported by USNI News, which said that the group includes a cruiser and two destroyers apart from the carrier. The Nimitz-class carrier is among the largest warships in the world. Two of the escorts docked at Changi Naval Base, while the third escort berthed at Sembawang.

Once the port call ends, the strike group is expected to sail through the Malacca Strait, which connects the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean.

The Roosevelt is expected to relieve the USS George Washington carrier strike group, which has been operating in the Middle East since August 19.
