The Philippine manufacturing sector posted faster growth in September 2026, with more industry divisions recording annual growth, led by coke and refined petroleum products, according to preliminary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The value of production index (VaPI) for the manufacturing section continued its double-digit growth in September, rising 12.7% year-on-year, faster than the revised 10% growth in August 2026 and in contrast to the and 1.9% growth in July 2026 and August 2025, respectively, according to PSA’s latest Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries (MISSI).
The volume of production index (VoPI) likewise increased 9% year-on-year in September, higher than the revised 6.6% growth in August 2026 and a reversal from the 1.1% decline in September 2025.
The faster annual increase recorded by the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products mainly contributed to the acceleration in VaPI and VoPI in September. Other primary contributors were the faster annual increases in the manufacture of basic metals and the manufacture of transport equipment.
