Saudi Arabia’s ports handled more than 5.2 million containers in the first eight months of 2026, as the Kingdom expanded its maritime fleet and strengthened transport links to support regional and international trade flows.
Fawaz Al-Sahli, President of Transport General Authority (TGA), told Saudi Maritime & Logistics Congress that Saudi-flagged maritime fleet had grown by 5 percent this year, while the number and efficiency of Saudi seafarers and maritime personnel had increased by 24 percent.
He said the Kingdom’s strategic ports on the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, supported by integrated land, maritime and rail transport networks, were helping maintain the movement of goods amid changing regional trade conditions.
The integration of different transport modes has provided alternative routes for cargo movements across Gulf countries, supporting the continuity of regional and international supply chains, Al-Sahli added.
