Hornbeck Offshore Services, which merged with Helix Energy Solutions two months ago, has entered into multiple agreements with Shell Offshore for the provision of deepwater services in the U.S. Gulf of America.
The company announced today, November 2, that it shall provide a comprehensive range of integrated deepwater services to Shell, including riser-based well intervention, riserless well intervention stimulation support, and marine transportation.
Hornbeck plans to deploy a technologically advanced riser-based well intervention vessel combined with an intervention riser system (IRS) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), a high-specification multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) combined with ROVs, as well as deepwater Jones Act-compliant offshore supply vessel(s) (OSVs) supporting the two vessels.
The riser-based well intervention vessel and support vessel are contracted for five years, with operations scheduled to begin in 2027.
