The Shillong–Silchar corridor has progressed through bidding, with NKC Projects emerging as the lowest bidder for two sections covering approximately 78.6 kilometres. The planned four-lane highway will connect Meghalaya and Assam, improving access to the Barak Valley and neighbouring states while strengthening regional freight connectivity.
The Shillong–Silchar corridor has reached another procurement milestone, with NKC Projects Private Limited submitting the lowest bids for two sections of the greenfield highway.
The combined bids are valued at approximately ₹4,919 crore. Lowest-bidder status represents progress in contractor selection; it should be distinguished from a final contract award or the commencement of construction.
The two sections form part of the larger corridor approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in April 2025. The project is intended to improve movement between Meghalaya and Assam and strengthen connections across the southern Northeast. The Financial Express
