The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the Research Council of Norway and the Singapore Maritime Institute have launched a joint research grant call to develop solutions supporting the decarbonisation of international shipping.
The call brings together the research, technology and industry capabilities of both countries’ maritime innovation ecosystems to tackle shared technological and operational challenges, with solutions intended to apply across international shipping.
It builds on the MPA-RCN Memorandum of Understanding signed in April 2024 on maritime research, development, education and training.
The call focuses on three areas. The first is alternative fuels and energy infrastructure, including safer handling of alternative marine fuels, bunkering and fuel storage technologies, and charging infrastructure for electric vessels.
