ST LNG aims to reach a final investment decision on its $8.2 billion LNG export project by mid- to late 2027, the company's president said on Thursday, a day after receiving a key US government approval.
The company's first liquefied natural gas export facility, planned offshore of Matagorda, Texas, will include four liquefaction plants of 2.1 million metric tons per annum for a combined production capacity of 8.4 mtpa, representing about 8% of US capacity.
The project received a record of decision — a regulatory milestone — after undergoing the fastest deepwater port license review in more than two decades, according to the Transportation Department. President Donald Trump's administration has promised to ease permitting and speed up energy infrastructure development.
Rockville, Maryland-based ST LNG will receive its license once it complies with all federal and state requirements.
