StormGeo, part of Alfa Laval, has acquired Danish maritime technology company Portchain, expanding its capabilities in voyage optimization and port call coordination.

The acquisition was completed on 30 October 2026 and brings Portchain’s container terminal coordination technology into StormGeo’s maritime digital solutions portfolio. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

Portchain connects container shipping lines and terminals through shared operational data. Its network currently includes more than 200 terminals, representing over 40% of global container terminal capacity, according to the company.

The acquisition aims to bring voyage optimization and berth planning closer together, allowing shipping companies to make more informed operational decisions.
