With diesel topping $6 a gallon nationally, ATA's Bob Costello explains why fleets should prepare for continued pressure at the pump.

That’s what Bob Costello, chief economist of the American Trucking Associations, told an audience during ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I’m not saying you’re going to see a big spike here, but I don’t think there’s gonna be much relief.”

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide was $6.276 as of the Energy Department’s October 19 numbers, up nearly 10 cents over the previous week and $2.656 higher than a year ago.
