FRANCE: Engineering contractor TSO Group is looking to grow the turnover of its rail business threefold by 2030, according to Chief Executive Romaud Hughes.

Speaking to Railway Gazette International during the recent InnoTrans 2026 trade fair in Berlin, Hughes explained that the company, which is a subsidiary of French conglomerate NGE, is seeking growth through a mix of domestic and international expansion, driven by wider investment in the rail sector.

In particular, he cited the French government’s desire to revive the fortunes of the country’s rural railways through the Loi d’Orientation des Mobilités legislation; this is driving more responsibility and funding down to the regional authorities for enhancing local railways.

In 2025, TSO booked €625m in revenue, but €500m of this was generated in France, despite its portfolio in rail including work in Egypt (in partnership with local company Orascom), Canada, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sweden and on Rail Baltica.
