Tsuneishi delivers first methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax built in China
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding delivered its first methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carrier built at its China facility, Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding.
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding on Wednesday (28 October) delivered its first methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax bulk carrier built at its China facility, Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding (TZS).
The vessel can operate on methanol as well as conventional marine fuel. According to Tsuneishi, using methanol can reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to approximately 80%, sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions by up to 99%, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to approximately 10%, compared with heavy fuel oil.
The Kamsarmax is one of Tsuneishi’s established bulk carrier designs, with more than 400 vessels delivered to date.
In January 2026, the shipbuilder completed the world’s first methanol dual-fuel Kamsarmax at its Philippine facility. TZS has also built four methanol dual-fuel 5,900 TEU container vessels prior to the latest delivery.
