Maharashtra has proposed a chemical industry park near the upcoming Vadhvan Port, offering between 2,500 and 5,000 acres and seeking central approval. Announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at India Chem 2026, the proposal links industrial development with new maritime capacity and the Centre’s chemical parks programme.
The Vadhvan chemical park proposal would establish a manufacturing cluster near Maharashtra’s upcoming deep-water port, with the state government expressing readiness to provide between 2,500 and 5,000 acres.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis outlined the plan at the inauguration of India Chem 2026 in Goregaon, Mumbai, on 22 October. He asked the Union government to sanction the project.
The announcement establishes the state’s intention and proposed land commitment. It does not confirm central selection, a final site boundary or a construction timetable.
