Vattenfall and the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) have signed the final agreements for the Hesselø and Holmsland offshore wind projects, which will add at least 1.8 GW of capacity to Denmark’s offshore wind pipeline.
The agreements formalise Vattenfall’s selection as the winning bidder for the two projects in Denmark’s latest offshore wind tender in August 2026.
Hesselø, with a minimum planned capacity of 800 MW, will be located in the Kattegat, while Holmsland, formerly known as North Sea I Mid, will have a minimum capacity of 1 GW in the North Sea, near Hvide Sande.
The developer says the name change from North Sea I Mid to Holmsland reflects the project’s location off the Danish west coast.
