Kerala has identified approximately 930 acres for logistics infrastructure supporting Vizhinjam International Seaport, with acquisition proceedings under way for 230 acres. The initiative seeks to address storage shortages and high land costs through additional facilities and private investment. The government has ruled out uniform rental rates for private warehouses.

The Vizhinjam logistics infrastructure programme has identified around 930 acres for supporting facilities as Kerala seeks to expand the services available to businesses using the port.

Acquisition proceedings are progressing for 230 acres. Identifying the wider land requirement does not mean that the entire area has been acquired or made available to developers.

Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan outlined the position in a written Assembly reply. Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited is discussing investment opportunities with logistics companies, container freight station operators, warehouse investors and shipping lines.
