Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited has sought the state government’s prior approval for a proposed 49% shareholding transfer, Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan has told the Assembly. A Chief Secretary-led committee is examining the proposal, with further action dependent on its recommendations. The clarification does not announce final approval.
The Vizhinjam port stake transfer proposal is undergoing government scrutiny after Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited submitted an application seeking permission for the planned change in shareholding.
Responding to an unstarred Assembly question, Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan said the company had followed the concession agreement’s requirement to obtain prior approval from the state government.
He said Adani had not attempted to complete the transfer without that permission. An empowered committee chaired by the Chief Secretary is examining the transaction, supporting information and relevant contractual provisions.
