Why Small Fuel Savings Matter in Trucking

Can better fuel economy help pay for driver raises? In this podcast, GP Transco explains how small efficiency gains create room to reinvest in its people.

An improvement of 0.1 or 0.2 mpg may sound modest. For a trucking fleet running tens of millions of miles a year, it can make a meaningful difference in operating costs.

On this audio episode of HDT Talks Trucking, GP Transco’s Alex Gorno discusses the connection between fuel efficiency and the fleet’s ability to invest in driver pay, employee raises, and bonuses.

HDT’s Deborah Lockridge asks how the fleet puts that approach into practice, from choosing aerodynamic equipment to coaching drivers and rewarding lower idle time. Gorno also discusses solar panels, a lithium battery pilot, and getting efficiency upgrades installed before equipment enters service.

Listen for a fleet perspective on evaluating fuel-saving investments, starting with proven technology, and making incremental improvements count.
