The City of Moreton Bay (formerly the Moreton Bay Regional Council) is restoring sand levels at Woorim Beach ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 summer season.

The work will be carried out between Eighth Avenue and Lowry Street, Woorim, and will begin in the following days.

During the project, about 175,000 cubic meters of offshore sand will be pumped into shallow water. Waves and tides will then move it onto the beach and into the dune system naturally.

Erosion from weather events in recent years has narrowed the beach, eroded dunes and exposed vegetation roots. This reduces the natural buffer that helps protect nearby public and private property.
