15 Fertiliser Ships Clear Strait of Hormuz

India has secured a fresh boost to fertiliser supplies after 15 India-bound vessels carrying fertilisers and raw materials crossed the Strait of Hormuz, easing concerns over short-term disruptions. The shipments are expected to strengthen stocks just as the country prepares for peak agricultural demand.

The vessels include cargoes of urea, di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), sulphur and ammonia, with several ships now headed for Indian ports. Authorities said the movement will significantly improve fertiliser availability and support domestic supply chains.

The development comes after multiple vessels were briefly delayed in the strait amid tensions in the region. Officials said the situation has improved, and the remaining ships are also expected to move out soon.

India relies heavily on imported fertilizers and key raw materials, making safe passage through Hormuz critical for farm-sector stability. The latest arrivals should help reassure farmers ahead of the sowing season and support smoother distribution of crop nutrients.
