AP clears RFP for Rs 4,929-cr mega port

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the request for proposal (RFP) process for selecting an operator for the Rs 4,929-crore mega port project, marking an important step toward its operation and expansion. The AP Maritime Board has been asked to move ahead with the bidding process, which is expected to bring the long-gestation port project closer to implementation.

The development is significant for Andhra Pradesh’s port-led growth strategy, as the project is designed to strengthen cargo handling capacity and improve maritime infrastructure in the state. Once the operator is selected, the port is expected to move into the next phase of development, covering both operations and expansion.

The mega port project is part of the state’s broader push to attract investment, build logistics capacity and improve connectivity for industrial and trade activity. The RFP approval signals that the government is now preparing the project for private participation and operational rollout.
