Rhenus is expanding its logistics network between Europe and Morocco after marking 10 years of partnership with Moroccan logistics operator Compagnie Commerciale Charbonnière et Maritime (CCCM).
The company plans to build on its existing Spain-Morocco operations by launching new transport corridors from France, Italy and Türkiye. Full rollout is scheduled for 1 January 2027.
Over the past decade, the partnership has grown significantly. Rhenus handled 6,880 shipments in 2025, up 223% from 2019. Freight volumes also increased 593% to 25,375 tonnes.
“Our partnership with CCCM demonstrates that fast, reliable logistics between Europe and Morocco can be delivered at scale,” said Xavier Gimenez, Member of the Overland Steering Committee at Rhenus. “The next step is to expand this model across additional European markets.”
The Spain-Morocco corridor remains the backbone of the network. Shipments reach Tangier in around 48 hours and Casablanca in about 72 hours. Similar transit times apply to northbound cargo moving into Europe.
The service relies on fixed departures, regular groupage services and established routes through Barcelona and Algeciras.
Rhenus said Morocco continues to strengthen its role as a logistics hub linking Europe, Africa and global trade. Infrastructure investment, industrial growth and rising exports are increasing demand for integrated logistics services.
The company expects growth from sectors including automotive, textiles, manufacturing, machinery, food, chemicals and temperature-controlled cargo.
The new network will include consolidation hubs in Paris, Lyon, Milan and Istanbul. These facilities will connect with Tangier through direct and multimodal services. Rhenus said the expansion will increase service frequency and support higher freight volumes.
The company will also use its network of five consolidation hubs across Europe and Central Asia to extend services beyond its core routes.
“We are proud of what we have built together over the past 10 years,” said Mohammed Moreno, Managing Director of CCCM. “This partnership provides a strong foundation for continued growth.”
Rhenus said the expansion will transform its Morocco operations from a bilateral partnership into a broader logistics platform connecting Europe and Africa.
