Hungary’s rail freight market remains in “sharp decline”, with demand falling for a third consecutive year as operators contend with rising unit costs and declining revenue. That’s according to the latest Rail Freight Cost Index from the Hungarian Railway Association, HUNGRAIL, which warned that, without intervention, the sector faces “further capacity cuts, investment postponements and a further deterioration in competitiveness”.
