Maersk has opened a distribution and warehousing centre in Suape, Brazil. Located in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Pernambuco, the facility is approximately 20km from the Port of Suape and Recife International Airport. It provides access to ocean, cabotage and inland transport services, alongside warehousing and distribution.
The facility covers approximately 11,920sqm, including 10,850sqm of warehousing space. It has capacity for 11,297 pallet positions, 36 loading docks, four access ramps, a clear height of 12m, and a floor loading capacity of up to 5 t/m².
“The investment comes as Northeastern Brazil continues to experience strong growth in trade and logistics activity. According to data from Brazil’s Ministry of Ports and Airports based on statistics from the Brazilian National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), the region handled 329.7m tonnes of cargo through maritime and inland waterways in 2025, while container volumes reached 21.2m tonnes, representing year-on-year growth of 9%, the strongest increase recorded in the past five years,” Maersk said.
The company said the distribution centre is designed to support customers across a range of sectors, including consumer goods, retail, automotive, technology, electronics, and food and beverage.
According to Maersk, the site also incorporates measures intended to improve operational efficiency and reduce GHG emissions. These include waste segregation and recycling programmes, LED lighting throughout the facility, and fully electric material handling equipment powered by lithium-ion batteries.
