Grimaldi presents ammonia-ready car carrier Grande Istanbul

Grimaldi Group has officially presented its latest Pure Car & Truck Carrier (PCTC), Grande Istanbul, during a ceremony at Autoport in Kocaeli, Türkiye.

Named after Türkiye’s largest city, the vessel is one of 17 next-generation, ammonia-ready PCTCs commissioned by the Grimaldi Group to strengthen the efficiency and sustainability of its global automotive logistics network.

Grande Istanbul has a capacity of up to 9,241 Car Equivalent Units (CEUs) and can reduce CO₂ emissions per unit of cargo by up to 50% compared with previous-generation car carriers.

The vessel is currently deployed on Grimaldi’s EuroMed service, linking Northern Europe with the Mediterranean. The rotation includes several Turkish ports, including Autoport, Borusan, Derince, Gemlik, Haydarpaşa and İzmir, transporting cars, trucks, rolling cargo and containers.

The event also highlighted Grimaldi’s long-standing presence in Türkiye, where the company has operated for almost 50 years. Today, the Group deploys around 20 modern ro-ro vessels and PCTCs serving Turkish ports, representing a total investment of approximately €1.2 billion.
