Wallem-managed Opal Leader wins NYK Line’s Car Carrier of the Year 2025 award

Wallem Group, a leading global maritime partner, has secured NYK Line’s prestigious Car Carrier of the Year 2025 award in recognition of the performance of a vessel under Wallem technical management.

NYK Line representatives presented the award to Captain S.U. Mazumder, Master of the 176m Opal Leader at the Port of Yokohama, Japan on 16 June 2026.

Opal Leader met the award’s stringent criteria by demonstrating outstanding safety performance, avoiding operational delays, securing a Carbon Intensity Indicator rating of C or above, and receiving strong evaluations from port captains and operators.

“This award reflects the dedication and seamanship skills of our Master, Officers, and Crew, supported by a strong organisational commitment to Safety, Operational Excellence and Environmental Stewardship,” said Ioannis Stefanou, Managing Director Ship Management, Wallem Group.
