Portugal to renew main Lisbon–Porto line to ease mixed-traffic pressure

Portugal is moving ahead with a 160 million euro renewal of the Northern Line, the country’s main railway corridor between Lisbon and Porto. The Ovar–Espinho project is meant to create more room for freight on Portugal’s most important mixed-traffic rail route, with construction set to include two 750-metre freight sidings.
