Maersk expands relief measures following Venezuela earthquake

Maersk has announced additional relief measures for customers affected by the ongoing disruption at La Guaira following the recent earthquake in Venezuela.

The carrier said the safety of employees, partners and local communities remains its top priority as it continues to work with authorities to minimize supply chain disruptions.

Under the updated relief package, Cargo Equipment Detention (CED) charges, including operational costs related to restows and any freight difference between the original and revised port of discharge, will continue to apply.

However, Maersk will grant an additional 15 days of free time for cargo discharged in Venezuela between 22 June and 6 July 2026, provided the empty containers have not yet been returned.

The company said the measures are intended to support business continuity and provide customers impacted by the disruption with greater operational flexibility.
