In a quick response to the decision of the Federal Court of Auditors, the federal government took a decisive step to guarantee the continuity of the tunnel between Santos and Guarujá.

During a visit to the Port of Santos, the Brazilian Minister of Ports and Airports and the president of the Santos Port Authority, Anderson Pomini, formalized the signing of a commitment contract to enable the release of federal resources for the project.
The move occurs a few days after the TCU ordered the precautionary suspension of around R$2.6 billion, pointing out flaws in the governance structure and risks in the application of public money.
With the new agreement, the government seeks to directly meet the requirements of the control body, establishing stricter rules for inspection, transparency and accountability.
The gesture is interpreted as a clear signal of political priority for the work, considered strategic for both urban mobility and the logistical efficiency of the largest port in Latin America.
In addition to responding to the court’s criticisms, the signing of the commitment also reinforces the attempt to avoid delays in the project’s schedule, keeping the project active while institutional adjustments are implemented.
The Santos–Guarujá tunnel involves the construction of the first underwater tunnel in Brazil and promises to drastically reduce the crossing time between the two cities, currently impacted by congestion and operational limitations.
