Zuidnatie is expanding its South Terminal at the port of Antwerp by approximately 40,000 sq m, following the takeover of a concession that was previously operated by Somex.
The concession is located opposite the company’s South Terminal, with construction works to support the expansion slated to begin on January 1, 2027. Initially, the location will provide additional capacity for activities currently handled at the South Terminal, which South Nation said has almost reached maximum capacity.
The first operations at the new terminal, the company said, will focus on non-water-related logistics activities, including the handling and storage of containers carrying a wide range of goods. This expansion will create greater operational flexibility while preparing the site for future logistic developments.
“This expansion gives us the space we need to continue growing and to better serve our current and future customers,” said Stephanie Feysmanaging director of Zuidnatie. “Looking ahead, we plan to invest in several state-of-the-art warehouses at the new location.”
Over the coming years, Zuidnatie will further develop the site into a modern logistics hub with additional warehousing and value-added logistics services.
