The Santos Port Authority (APS) created a technical committee to discuss the best options for routing access to the Santos-Guarujá tunnel on the Left Bank of the Port, in the District of Vicente de Carvalho. The proposal was announced by the president of APS, Anderson Pomini, and approved during a meeting held this Thursday (7), at the public company’s office, in São Paulo.

Despite having requested the meeting, the mayor of Guarujá Farid Madi (Pode) did not attend, but was represented by his advisor Mauro Scazufca, and by the Secretary of Planning, Daniela Mariane. Already representing the Santos Port Authority, in addition to Pomini, the Infrastructure director, Orlando Razões, as well as superintendents, managers, advisors and technicians also participated.

The commission will have representatives from Guarujá City Hall, the company Mota-Engil (constructor responsible for the tunnel), port terminals on both banks, the Port Authority, the Air Force, APS itself and other sectors linked to the project.

The port agency informed that urban, operational and logistical impacts will be taken into account when analyzing access options to the tunnel. Among the points that should be evaluated are the works on the second phase of Avenida Perimetral da Margem Esquerda and the future operation of commercial flights at Guarujá Metropolitan Airport, among others.

The idea is to include the stretch of Avenida Santos Dumont in the Polygonal of the Port of Santos, so that the port authority can provide federal resources for works to improve access. In this way, the number of expropriations will reduce, meeting the demands of residents of the region.

Pomini highlighted the commitment to make the Santos-Guarujá tunnel a project that will boost economic development and job creation in both cities. “Hence the importance of seeking the best access at this historic moment for the future of the region and the country”, he concluded.
