As electric vehicles become more integrated into the nation's transportation system, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has flagged three areas that need coordinated action.
In order to help U.S. industry tackle the practical questions that come with mass adoption, ANSI has released a report that proposes three new gaps for consideration:
"As EV adoption grows, the standards questions are shifting from whether the technology works to how it performs in the real world, for every driver and at every charger," said Christine Bernat, ANSI director of standards facilitation. "Damaged batteries, accessibility, and charger reliability are the kinds of issues that are easier to solve together and early, and we encourage more stakeholders to join ANSI in this work."
The report, issued by the ANSI Electric Vehicles Standards Panel (EVSP), provides updates on standards, research, and conformity assessment activities against 30 previously identified gaps.
