ITALY: CAF has delivered the first three of the 33 trams it is supplying for Bologna’s new tram network under a 2024 contract. The three vehicles delivered by October 16 are now undergoing test runs on a two-stop section at the western end of the Red Line, between Borgo Panigale depot and Via Cavalieri Ducati.
CAF is supplying 33 trams under a €130m firm order placed as part of a framework contract in October 2024. The deal includes the supply of tools, spare parts and the provision of four years of maintenance, as well as options for the city to order up to 27 more vehicles by November 2030.
The five module bidirectional trams from CAF’s Urbos family are 34.7 m long and 2 400 mm wide with a capacity of up to 225 passengers, including 68 seats and two spaces for disabled people.
They feature four double doors on each side, large windows and audio-visual passenger information systems.
