Boluda Shipping has signed an agreement to acquire Samskip, including all its assets and operations. The deal aims to create a major European short-sea shipping network connecting Northern Europe, Spain, the Canary Islands and West Africa.
Once completed, the combined network will comprise 32 vessels operating 18 routes across 28 countries. It will also include 21 maritime terminals, five rail terminals and more than 500 company-owned trucks.
Together, the companies expect to handle more than 750,000 TEUs annually. Their combined operations will also involve approximately 35,000 containers, supporting maritime, rail and road transport services.
The acquisition is expected to close on 1 January 2027. However, the deal still requires regulatory approvals and the fulfilment of other agreed conditions. Until completion, both companies will continue operating independently.
