This year, Boskalis' trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Freeway completed several short dredging campaigns in Barrow, removing a total of more than 1 million cubic meters of sediment from the port area.
For more than 20 years, Boskalis has been carrying out a range of projects in this area through Boskalis Westminster.
"With over 115 years a century of experience in the maritime industry, Boskalis regularly calls at certain ports. This may be to load or discharge cargo, or to carry out dredging operations as part of an expansion or maintenance project. One of the ports where we have made a significant impact over the past few decades is Barrow in the United Kingdom," Boskalis said.
Regular dredging is required to keep the Port of Barrow and its approach channels at advertised operational depths (managed via bodies like the Marine Management Organization).
