Cadeler has signed a firm contract to transport and install wind turbines at the 1.2 GW Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm in the UK, with its newbuild installation vessel Wind Apex scheduled to join the campaign in the third quarter of 2027.
Wind Apex will work alongside the project’s existing vessel contracted to transport and install 87 GE Vernova Haliade-X 14 MW turbines at Dogger Bank C, Jan De Nul’s Voltaire, which is currently working at Dogger Bank B, the second 1.2 GW phase, where it is expected to stay until around the second quarter of 2027.
Dogger Bank C will be Wind Apex’s first project following its delivery from the shipyard. The vessel, under construction at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry shipyard in China, is the third in the company’s A-class series, following Wind Ally and Wind Ace, and is designed for both foundation and turbine installation work. Cadeler said Wind Apex could also be made available for work on the other phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
Dogger Bank C is the third phase of the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm, located approximately 130 kilometres off the north-east coast of England. The project is owned by a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40 per cent), Equinor (40 per cent) and Vårgrønn (20 per cent), with SSE leading development and construction and Equinor set to operate the wind farm.
