Multipurpose carrier Chipolbrok deployed its heavy lift vessel Paderewski to Maraen Port of Nigg, UK, with a batch of wind turbine tower sections for the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank wind farm.

The 370-tonne tower sections were discharged at the port using the vessel’s cranes capable of lifting 700 tonnes in tandem. Paderewski’s crew carried out the discharge operations, including removal of welded stoppers and lashings.

Maraen Port of Nigg was selected as a marshalling port for the Dogger Bank B and C phases. The facility is used to store and prepare GE Vernova‘s Haliade-X offshore wind turbine components before they head out to the North Sea on installation vessels.

Paderewski is not the only heavy lift vessel Chipolbrok deployed on the project. Sister ships Nowowiejski and Chipolbrok Pacific have already called at the port. Shortly after Paderewski departed, Chipolbrok Atlantic, which has the same crane capacity, arrived at the port with more tower sections.
