Global container freight rates delivered a mixed performance in the latest weekly assessments, with major international benchmarks moving higher while Chinese freight indexes showed more subdued results. The divergence was particularly evident on Asia-Europe routes, where Drewry reported further increases but the NYSHEX Freight Index (NYFI) continued to decline.

The latest figures highlight an uneven freight market, with movements varying considerably across benchmarks and individual trade lanes.

The SCFI edged up 0.05% to 3,681.34 points on 23 October, compared with 3,679.58 in the previous assessment. The marginal increase indicates broadly stable conditions in the index.

The CCFI moved in the opposite direction, declining approximately 2.41% to 1,876.27 points from 1,922.64 a week earlier. It was the most pronounced movement among the three Chinese composite indexes.
