Damen orders two additional battery systems from EST-Floattech

Damen Shipyards Group has placed a new order with EST-Floattech for two additional Octopus Series battery systems. The systems will be installed on two Damen Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 cargo vessels.

Announced on October 26, the agreement extends the companies’ existing cooperation on battery technology for short-sea shipping. It also renews their framework agreement, which followed a partnership established in November 2024.

With the latest order, the total number of EST-Floattech battery systems installed or planned for installation on CF 3850 vessels will reach nine.

The collaboration focuses on improving vessel efficiency and supporting the transition towards lower-emission shipping operations.
