ISO-Gruppe has successfully completed the implementation of its electronic flight strip and ground surveillance system, SKYcontrol Tower, at Penang International Airport (PIA) in Malaysia.
It has reported this as the first digital air traffic control system in Asia.
According to AviationHub, PIA ranks second in Malaysia for cargo tonnage after Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), handling roughly 100,000 tonnes a year, and its exports carried a value of about RM365 billion in 2023.
“The total project duration of just 14 months demonstrates the maturity of our SKYcontrol platform and its ability to integrate into complex systems. This successful major project in Penang underscores our ATC expertise and serves as an important springboard for further expansion in the rapidly growing Asian aviation market,” Stephan Schaer, Project Manager and Authorized Signatory at ISO Software Systeme GmbH said.
