India’s diesel exports are expected to increase starting in 2027 as state-run refining companies expand their production capacity, positioning the country for a larger role in global fuel markets, according to a Reuters report.

The expansion will strengthen India’s status as a swing supplier of refined products in a tight global market affected by the US-Iran and Ukraine-Russia conflicts, which have disrupted trade flows and increased freight rates worldwide.

“We will be in a happy situation of not only refining for ourselves but for the world,” Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.

India is working to increase its refining capacity to 300 million tons per year by 2030, with plans for further expansion to 400 million tons per year at a later date.
