IndiGo has launched a direct flight between Gayaji in Bihar and Bangkok, creating a new international connection for Buddhist pilgrims and travellers visiting Bodh Gaya. The service was virtually flagged off by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on 26 October 2026, adding a scheduled international route to the airport ahead of the winter pilgrimage season. <Cite refs={[“turn591237news4″,”turn591237search1”]}/>

The twice-weekly service connects Gayaji with Thailand’s capital, reducing the need for passengers to travel through other Indian cities to reach the destination. The route also strengthens air links between Bihar and Thailand, which has longstanding cultural and religious ties with Bodh Gaya.

IndiGo’s flight 6E 1083 operates from Gayaji to Bangkok on Mondays and Thursdays, departing at 1.15 pm and arriving at 5.50 pm local time. The return service, 6E 1084, leaves Bangkok at 10.15 am and arrives in Gayaji at 12.15 pm. The flight time is approximately three hours, subject to operating conditions. <Cite refs={[“turn591237search0”]}/>

The service provides an additional option for international visitors travelling to Bodh Gaya, home to the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Buddhism’s most significant pilgrimage destinations.
