Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have signed two agreements to develop transport and logistics connections across the Caspian Sea, including a proposed ferry system and an intermodal cargo terminal at the Port of Baku.
The agreements were signed during a meeting between Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna and Azerbaijan’s state-owned AZCON Holding on 2 November 2026.
The initiatives aim to strengthen maritime and rail connectivity along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor.
Under the first agreement, Samruk-Kazyna and AZCON Holding will cooperate on the proposed Caspian Bridge ferry system, also referred to as the Super Ferry project.
