LATAM Cargo flies two Popemobiles to Peru for papal visit
Two Popemobiles arrive in Peru aboard a dedicated freighter ahead of Pope Leo XIV’s visit, following a specialised cargo operation from Brazil.
Two Popemobiles designated for Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Peru have arrived in Lima from Brazil aboard a LATAM Cargo freighter, following a specialised logistics operation coordinated with Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Motors.
The vehicles were transported on a dedicated Boeing 767-300F freighter operating a direct flight from Viracopos Airport in Campinas, Brazil, to Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima. The shipment also included protective structures designed to safeguard the vehicles’ cabins during transit.
Given the vehicles’ dimensions and specialised requirements, the operation involved between six and eight hours of preparation on the airport ramp. Dedicated handling and loading procedures were implemented to ensure the vehicles were safely secured and transported.
Otavio Meneguette, Director of LATAM Cargo Brazil, who was present during the operation at Viracopos Airport, said, “We are proud to contribute to such an important event. The transportation of the popemobiles demonstrates LATAM Cargo’s ability to plan and execute special operations efficiently and safely, thanks to the dedication and expertise of our teams.”
