Malaysia-headquartered Lianson Fleet Group (LFG) has acquired an offshore heavy lift vessel, signalling an expansion of the group’s capabilities and service offering within the marine and offshore sector. The vessel, purchased from an unnamed seller, was built in 2024 and will be renamed LFG Hercules. It is equipped with a 4,000-tonne capacity main crane, measures over 200 m long and will be flagged in Port Klang.
According to LFG, the vessel provides the company with access to a wider range of chartering opportunities both in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia.
LFG Hercules is LFG’s first heavy lift vessel and the company is optimistic about its deployment, “taking into consideration the relatively limited availability of comparable heavy lift vessels in the region and the anticipated demand for such specialised offshore marine assets”.
The company cited a significant decommissioning pipeline associated with maturing offshore oil and gas infrastructure across Southeast Asia, which is expected to drive demand for heavy lift services.
