Medway France is now running MSC’s container trains between the ports of Le Havre and Montoir-de-Bretagne on its own, after more than three months working on the flow alongside Europorte. It is the company’s third regular flow in France, less than a year after it entered the market.
MSC’s rail freight arm started the service with full autonomy on 2 November, linking Le Havre, the main port hub in northern France, with Montoir-de-Bretagne, part of Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port on the Atlantic coast.
It runs three rotations a week with 730-metre trains carrying up to 108 TEU and 2,000 tonnes. Its involvement in the flow began in July in close partnership with Europorte, which had held responsibility for the traffic. Normandie Rail Services handles the local services, and drivers change at Le Mans. Traction comes from two of the Stadler Euro6000 locomotives Medway unveiled in Lyon in March, maintained by Erion France.
“The implementation of this new service allows us to take a very significant step in our operation in France, given the size and importance of these ports,” said Medway chairman Carlos Vasconcelos.
