NAVTOR has introduced AIS streaming to its NavFleet platform, allowing shipping companies to monitor vessel movements with more frequent position updates and improved operational visibility.
According to the company, the system provides access to vessel position, speed and heading information with minimal delay compared with conventional AIS data services.
The AIS streaming capability uses NAVTOR’s NavBox, an onboard gateway that supports data exchange between vessels and shore-based operations.
Through this infrastructure, the platform can transmit AIS information using a proprietary low-bandwidth network. Fleet managers can then monitor vessel movements alongside surrounding traffic and operational conditions.
