Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are holding at or above pre-war levels, and the geopolitical risk premium is showing up in tanker freight rather than in crude futures, according to Aaron Kildow, Senior Market Strategist – Global Crude Oil at Sparta.

Sparta’s analysis indicates that projected September and October crude flows are the highest since February, with October volumes expected to be slightly below September.

“The shorter shuttle runs we are seeing from inside Hormuz terminals to the lightering zone just south of Fujairah is helping with efficiency,” Kildow told Zawya Projects.

“The export pace that we are seeing also suggests export terminals that were damaged in the early months of the war have been repaired,” he noted.
