Pacific International Lines (PIL) has ordered seven new methanol-ready feeder containerships from Huanghai Shipbuilding in China, as part of its fleet renewal and expansion programme.
Each vessel will have a capacity of 1,400 TEU, bringing the combined capacity of the order to 9,800 TEU. Deliveries are scheduled between 2029 and 2030.
The new ships will strengthen PIL’s regional shipping network, particularly its Intra-Asia and Pacific Islands services. They will also support connections between smaller ports and major transshipment hubs.
According to the Singapore-based carrier, the vessels have been designed to meet the specific operational requirements of these regional markets.
