Glasgow Prestwick Airport is in talks to establish a new cargo route with Nanjing Lukou International Airport in China as it continues to expand its direct connections with East Asia.
The plans for the new route next year were discussed during a meeting in Nanjing between Prestwick’s chief executive, Jules Matteoni, regional director, Colin Dai, vice governor of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, Ma Shiguang, and local officials, said Prestwick in a press release.
During the meeting the Provincial Government confirmed its backing for a new route between the airports.
Prestwick did not disclose what airline would potentially operate the route, but discussions will now continue on the commercial and operational requirements for the proposed service, with further details on the operator and launch schedule to be announced in the coming months.
