This week’s global railway supply chain news from Railway Gazette International.

Salcef Group’s rail contractor PRM Australia has acquired Swietelsky Rail Australia, which provides mechanised maintenance and project services to clients including Australian Rail Track Corp and Sydney Trains. Its fleet includes ballast cleaning machines, spoil wagons, tampers and regulators, adding complementary capability to PRM’s existing construction, renewal and maintenance operations. PRM Managing Director Chris Prior said the acquisition ‘gives PRM an established east coast operating platform and broadens the workforce, fleet and technical capability we can make available’, while ‘for employees, being part of a larger national business will open up broader career pathways, leadership opportunities and the potential to work across projects on both sides of the country’.

Alstom has renovated and expanded the Field Integration & Validation Platform testing laboratory within its Digital & Integrated Systems organisation in București. It said this significantly enhances its capability to develop, integrate and validate ERTMS, interlocking, CBTC, other train control and traffic management technology and electrification systems for projects in Romania and internationally.
